Our Story
Colleen and Anne Williamson formed The July Sisters in winter 2013. The arrival of a sweet little boy in the Williamson clan inspired the twins to broaden their musical horizons from playing honky tonk and classic country to include classic children's music, lullabies, sing-a-longs and clever originals that both kids and their parents will enjoy. Members of St. Louis folk groups The Lulus and Sadie Hawkins Day, the twins have played music together professionally since 2011, although their musical roots began to form at their mother's knee. Colleen is an award-winning hammer dulcimer player and Anne is a national songwriting competition finalist.
The twins play music together and spend their days working together at the same school. Anne has taught Middle School Spanish for eleven years and Colleen is a Librarian. They have over 20 years experience working with children.
The sisters have played stages all over St. Louis including The Sheldon, The Focal Point, Off Broadway, The Missouri Botanical Garden, and Purina Farms.
Another songwriting win for the twins came in September 2015 after winning the best children's song at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival's New Songs Showcase for their song "Grade 'A' Fancy". That song was also selected for honorable mention at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest in 2015.
